Profile
Dr Hilary Maddocks

FELLOW, THE STATE LIBRARY OF VICTORIA
As an art historian Dr Hilary Maddock's research has focused predominantly on the illustration of late medieval manuscripts, including French and English manuscripts from Australian and overseas collections. In 2006 she has been awarded a research fellowship at the State Library of Victoria and is undertaking a study of the collections of early printed illustrated books c.1450-1530. One aspect of this research is an investigation of the relationship between manuscript illumination and the illustrative programs of early printed books. She says that continued research into our rich national collections is of vital importance for Australasian manuscript studies.
